Carmichael Enterprises Youth Residential Programs L.T.D was formed in May 1998 by Executive Director Michael Wm Taylor. The agency was awarded it's accreditation through CARF in 2003, and received exemplary designation in the areas of client services and programming. Since that time the Executive Director has mentored numerous agencies on Vancouver Island with the accreditation process and is currently a Behavioural Health surveyor for CARF .Mr. Taylor is also one of the founders of SIVA, "Supporting Individuals Through Valued Attachments" which is a Canadian based provider of specialized safety management services for caregivers and families responsible for mentally ill and developmentally delayed children, adolescents, and adults.

In accordance with our mission statement, Carmichael Enterprises is committed to meeting the needs of individuals with disabilities and leads a common quest for increased independence and overall quality of life for the people in our care. Carmichael Enterprises has, as its main area of focus, the lowering or removal of potential barriers that are faced by individuals as they pursue their personal goals of living, learning, and being an integral and equal part of the community in which they live.

The director and staff members demonstrate a strong dedication to the mission of the organization. Staff members demonstrate a commitment to improving the quality of lives of persons served. The organization has a positive presence in the community and is a respected service provider to the greater Nanaimo area. Carmichael Enterprises is regarded by many outside stakeholders as a provider that is willing to take on challenges that other providers are not willing to take on. Outside stakeholders express a high degree of satisfaction with their congenial relationship with the organization and its staff members.
